Getting better through troubled times

When we are emotionally unstable and sad, for no obvious or even obvious reasons, we often tend to not seek for something that can help us through that, but we gladly accept help when we break a leg (crutches) for example. The kind of stigma that is still sticking to mental unrest is keeping most people from looking for help.

There is help available that does not need to be talked about in public, you do not need to see a doctor and even your friends do not need to know (but they can, of course). It is not addictive or harmful to your health. It is just a bridge to the sunnier side, where you can let go of your help as soon as you get there.

You already guessed it, this is about the use of essential oils for sadness and depressive states: While lavender is the very obvious choice, there is also clary sage and ylang-ylang as well as rose essential oil that have the stabilizing and levelling properties we are looking for. So taking relaxing baths and rubbing them into our skin as well as letting them run in the diffuser is much more than just a wellness program, it is a lifeline and a mood saver as well as a processing tool while it still supports our physical balance which is also compromised when we are “under the weather”.

And it doesn’t matter really what the reason is: drastic hormonal shifts, life-changing events or periods where we know that the stress and emotional upheaval will just last a little longer and we need to keep going.

Millions of people around the world need a little emotional support from time to time and most of them turn to their doctors for prescription drugs that leave them addicted and lead to a different kind of unrest that they will have to deal with later, apart from all the other side effects that those drugs sadly have. So what is the harm in trying something harmless first, before taking more risks? Those drugs will still be there if you find that essential oils don’t work for you.

Be well and see you soon!
