In my family there is a pre-disposition for muscle cramps, my older sister, who used to sleep very deep during childhood, often woke up at night screaming because the cramp had snuck up on her while she was „gone“ and closed down with an iron cramp on her leg muscles, leaving her in so much agony that the whole house would wake up and run to her help. My dad used to run upstairs like a lunatic, stormed into her room and pressed down on her foot to loosen the cramp in the leg, but it was painful anyway and it was also painful to listen. I was so afraid I could ever experience that amount of pain that made her scream like that, I made sure that never ever would I have one real muscle cramp in my whole life. So far I reached my goal somehow, but it was very close sometimes. So there are essential oils that you can use to decrease your muscles‘ affinity to cramp. Here is my list:
Peppermint: Contains menthol, provides cooling relief
Marjoram: Known for its antispasmodic properties
Lavender: Helps relax muscles
Roman Chamomile: Reduces inflammation and spasms
Here is a blend that you can use:
2 drops peppermint
3 drops marjoram
2 drops lavender
Mix with 1 tablespoon carrier oil (like coconut or jojoba)
But that blend on the area that you recognize as being especially prone to muscle cramps and repeat daily as long as the tendency remains.
