Essential Oils for Urinary Tract Infections

A urinary tract infection is commonly treated instinctively with antibiotics, but that comes with some bad (side) effects. So maybe if you experience early symptoms and you know what’s coming and there is still time for less invasive methods, consider some of the oils that I have listed below.

Oregano Oil: Known for its antibacterial properties, oregano oil can help fight E. coli, a common cause of such an infection. Oregano oil is as close to normal antibiotics as it can get, so you can put a drop in a capsule and ingest it 2-3 times per day, depending on how bad your symptoms are.

Cinnamon Oil: Contains trans-cinnamaldehyde, which can inhibit the growth of urinary bacteria. Like oregano oil, it must be diluted or put into a capsule to ingest.

Lavender Oil: This oil has anti-inflammatory properties and can help soothe the bladder. It can be used in a warm compress or diluted in a bath.

Tea Tree Oil: Known for its antifungal and antibacterial properties, tea tree oil can be used in a diluted form as a local wash or in a bath. You can also ingest it in a capsule.

Bergamot Oil: Can be added to a bath to help soothe the symptoms. It should be used in small quantities and diluted.

Lemongrass Oil: Has antibacterial properties and can be effective against E. coli and Staph infections. It should be diluted before use.

Cloves Oil: A strong antibacterial and antifungal agent, cloves oil can help combat infections. It should be used in small quantities and diluted.

Make sure you use therapeutic-grade oils when you ingest them!

Also take into consideration, that every sickness can have a psychological component, which does not mean „it’s all in your mind“, but the sickness may be a sign of an inner conflict that shows on the outside, namely your body. So in case of a urinary tract infection it might be held back feelings that fight with pressure and pain to be released but cannot yet be let go. Does that ring true?

Be well and see you soon!
