Essential oils – Only for Use in Food and Cosmetic Products?

In 99% of the countries world wide essential oils are registered for cosmetics or food related use only. That seems a strange thing to do, if you want people to use them for healing and well being, right? But there is an important reason for that: Essential oils, every single one of them, would have to go through the same money-eating process of showing in large medical studies that they are not only harmless, but beneficial to health, a fact that is basically known since the dawn of mankind. In the already large scientific body of studies about essential oils, more than 50.000, the standards of an approval process are often not met. Additionally the companies would likely end up having their oils approved only for them to be then put behind the paywall of prescription drugs, making the access all the more difficult and costly. So the companies stay with the labels „for cosmetic use“ or „for food related use“ that restricts the use on the surface, but gives you as a customer easy access while you can do with them whatever you please.

So don’t be disappointed or confused if you don’t find any promises of healing or specific applications for certain diseases on the websites of essential oil manufacturers. They are not legally allowed to make these claims, but at the same time they want to give everyone who loves to make independent and free decisions about their choice of medicine free access to reliable and non-invasive remedies. That leaves you with the due diligence to find out what oils can really be and do for you and that is what I try to help you with.

Be well and see you soon! 🌺☀️✨💪
