René-Maurice Gattefossé, known as the „Father of Aromatherapy“ basically re-introduced essential oils into the medical realm around 1900 when he experimented extensively with lavender essential oil in his laboratory. While working there one day he caused an explosion that covered him with burning substances as he stated and he had to run outside to roll on the grass. After that both his hands were „covered with a rapidly developing gas gangrene. Just one rinse with lavender essence stopped the gastification of the tissue“ so he reported. He was not utterly surprised about that, since he studied the oil long enough back then to know about its powerful healing properties.
Be well and see you around!
