Soothing Shingles Naturally: Essential Oil Relief Guide

I happen to know some people who had to deal with shingles, some of them in my own family. They have a really bad reputation and that’s because of the pain and discomfort that come for some with the symptoms. Some people get away easily, others are really sick for quite some time.

They start with an itching of an area of skin, maybe pain or some tingling. After some time there will form a red band of blisters along a nerve path, commonly around the „belt-area“, but it can form on the neck, face and scalp as well.

Shingles are said to be caused by the herpes zoster virus, that lies dormant in the nervous system and can be re-activated by stress, immune problems or a disease.

Of course you can always turn to the traditional medicinal treatments of the shingles, but there are some essential oils that you can start using right away, without loosing any precious time.

Blend 3 drops of lavender, 3 drops of tea tree and 3 drops of thyme essential oils together with 1 tsp. of fractionated coconut oil, rub that blend on the soles of your feet and on the location of the blisters. If you want and have them at hand use also eucalyptus, lemon or geranium to the mix. Apply in the same way and repeat as long as comfortable and helpful.

Be well and see you around!
