Two oils frequently discussed in the context of ADD/ADHD are vetiver and cedarwood.
Vetiver oil, derived from the roots of Vetiveria zizanioides, has historically been used in traditional practices for its calming properties. It has an earthy, grounding scent that some find helps promote relaxation and mental clarity. Research suggests vetiver may have mild sedative properties that could support focus and concentration.
Cedarwood oil, extracted from various species of cedar trees, contains compounds like cedrol that have been studied for their potential calming effects on the nervous system. Its warm, woody aroma is thought by some to help create an environment conducive to concentration.
For calming down the nervous system Chamomile can be added and for an even better focus Rosemary is also highly recommended.
These oils may serve as part of a holistic approach to managing attention and focus deficit problems.
Use them by diffusion in study/work spaces, by diluted application to pulse points, by adding them to the evening bath or by inhalation.
Be well and see you soon!
