These steps are taken from the book Holistic Dental Care by Nadine Artemis:
1. Keep a saltwater solution where you brush your teeth. Add a drop of essential oil and start with a saltwater rinse before brushing. (Fill a mason jar 30 g salt and 500 ml boiling hot water, let it sit until cooled and use a shot glass to measure up the amount of liquid for a rinse.)
2. Scrape the tongue two or three times with a scraper or a spoon, using a drop of essential oil
3. Brush the gums, paying special attention to brushing from the gums towards the teeth and taking special care over the gumline. Use a soft and DRY brush and apply a tiny drop of neem oil with an essential oil.
4. Polish the teeth with a dry, roundheaded electric toothbrush, add a drop of essential oil with a dash of home made polish. (home made polish: equal parts bicarbonate (or baking soda) and salt) Do not use force when brushing, ever. (My toothbrush looks like roadkill after one week of use, I use WAY too much pressure, I have to work on that!)
5. Clean the gumlines of any remaining plaque by using a rubber tipped gum tool or sulcus brush with a drop of essential oil.
6. Floss! Even better: floss two times. Apply a drop of essential oil to the floss.
7. Use a salt rinse (see first step)
8. Use an oral irrigator to rinse the gum pockets with salt water and essential oil. Massage a drop of essential oil into the gum and any sensitive areas.
Be well and see you soon!
